Beatrix Potter and the Lake District

Visiting Hill Top Farm. The lake district, England. Beatrix Potter's farm (1866 - 1943).

I can see how Miss Potter was inspired to create all her wonderful characters, with such gorgeous surroundings.

This was the heart of Beatrix's home. She called it the Entrance hall. However our guide explained...by calling it this, it clearly exposed her middle class roots. Lakeland farmers referred the this first room as the house place.

Beatrix Potter - her writing corner.

We had our Cream Tea here at the Lindeth Howe Country Hotel, once home to Beatrix Potter, which she bought for her mother once she became successful.
